EyeCare America is a public service program of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Their mission is to reduce avoidable blindness and severe visual impairment by raising awareness about eye disease and care, providing free eye health educational materials and facilitating access to medical eye care. They offer multiple eye care programs for which individuals may qualify such as Seniors EyeCare Program, 800-222-EYES (3937); Macular Degeneration (AMD) EyeCare Program, 800-324-EYES (3937); Diabetes EyeCare Program, 800-272-EYES (3937); Glaucoma EyeCare Program, 800-391-EYES (3937); or Children's EyeCare Program, 877-887-6327.

Provides financial assistance to individuals for eye care through local clubs. There are Lions Clubs in most localities. Services vary from club to club. Mission Cataract USA

Coordinated by the volunteer Eye Surgeons' Association, this project provides free cataract surgery to people of all ages who have no other means to pay. Surgeries are scheduled annually on one day.

This program provides medical and dental services, legal services, food, housing advice and family assistance. Services include an eye clinic with help for eye exams and glasses.
Sight for Students

Provides vision exams and glasses to uninsured children nationwide. The program operates through a network of community partner organizations such as Head Start programs, some schools, YMCAs, community health clinics, Prevent Blindness America and Caring Programs for Children. Free comprehensive eye exams and low cost glasses for low income working families. All ages are eligible. To qualify, families must have no insurance coverage for vision care, have one working person in the household, meet income criteria and not have had a comprehensive eye exam in two years. Sponsored by the American Optometry Association, with state participation from the Oklahoma Association of Optometry Physicians.
