Pets and People provides consumer-based service dog training. That means clients can use their own dog or a Pets and People-provided dog. It also means clients do their own training, often with guidance from Pets and People's training staff. Pets and People will help with dogs that mitigate any disability covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. This means both physical and mental health disabilities are covered.

At Discovery Dogs, each person who desires the support of a trained assistance dog determines their own level of involvement in the training process. Some participants elect to receive a fully trained dog, while others enter the program with their own pet and receive individualized instruction in their dog's training. Discovery Dogs charges a fee for service, which is determined by each participant's level of involvement in the training process. Discovery Dogs works with clients who live within two hours of the San Francisco Bay Area in California. Scholarships are occasionally available. Participants may choose to secure sponsorships from service groups, family, friends and other organizations to help defray training costs.

CaPR trains dogs to provide assistance to people who have limited mobility, from individuals who use wheelchairs to those requiring a steady four-legged partner to balance them as they walk. CaPR only places dogs with Colorado residents. People with muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, post polio syndrome, ataxia and other mobility limiting conditions may be eligible to receive a CaPR Service Dog Partner.
