Asperger Syndrome / PDD /Autism Support Group in Norman

Family members, individuals with Asperger's Syndrome (AS), pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), or autism, or anyone interested in sharing information, offering support, or learning more about AS, PDD, or autism is welcome. Meetings are USUALLY on the 4th Tuesday of the month (except if there is a need to reschedule, like in November and December) in Norman, Oklahoma, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Norman Public Library, in meeting rooms A and B. The library is at 225 N. Webster, at the northeast corner of Gray St. and Webster (Just west of the Post Office).

ASA chapters are your best source of information and support. Most chapters are volunteer-led by parents, care providers, and other professionals. ASA has chapters in nearly every state reaching out to individuals with autism and their families with information, support, and encouragement. Autism Society of Central Oklahoma (ASOCO) is the local chapter for Oklahoma.

The AutismSource database features thousands of resources with listings in all 50 states. ASA continues to add programs and users can recommend resources to be added by following the prompts on the site. Listings include physicians, psychologists, speech, occupational and behavioral therapists, schools, camps, training programs, government agencies, and much more. Autism Society of Central Oklahoma (ASOCO) generally meets the third Thursday of each month, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Norman Public Library, in meeting rooms A and B. The library is at 225 N. Webster, at the northeast corner of Gray St. and Webster (Just west of the Post Office).

This network of parents, grandparents, and other caregivers meet monthly on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They also invite teachers, aides and anyone involved in the life of a child with autism to join them.

Directions: Take the Muskogee Turnpike to the Port of Muskogee/Hyde Park exit. Go east on Hyde Park Road and go across the railroad tracks. Take the next left after the railroad tracks and go approximately a 1/4 of a mile. The church is on your right. The meeting is in the fellowship hall (the building that looks like a house attached to the church). Childcare provided.
