Oklahoma School for The Blind To Host National Outreach Forum
(MUSKOGEE, OK) School for the Blind staff from 26 states will convene at
Oklahoma School for the Blind April 25-28 for a national forum designed to help
them share ideas, update progress and learn about new and exciting issues
related to blindness and visual impairment.
Forum participants are primarily responsible for extending their schools’ on
campus programs and services to students with visual impairments attending local
public schools as well as providing teacher training and recommendations on
adaptations to the students’ educational environments.
In honor of Oklahoma’s centennial celebration, conference directors Deb Delhotal
and Sherry Holder have planned a Native American theme including a visit to a
Native American Museum, a traditional Native American dinner and entertainment
that will showcase Native dancers from Bacone College in Muskogee.
Oklahoma School for the Blind, headquartered in Muskogee, is a division of the
Department of Rehabilitation Services. The school offers pre-school through high
