Library Honors the Memory of Tireless Advocate
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Library for the Blind and
Physically Handicapped (OLBPH) will dedicate the Judy Hansen Training and
Conference Room at 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 12 at 300 NE 18th Street,
Oklahoma City.
OLBPH honors the memory of Hansen, a long-time Visual
Services employee and dedicated advocate for those who are blind or visually
impaired. Her actions in life left impressions on many through her teaching of
independent living skills, being an active member of the Oklahoma Council for
the Blind or her friendships to those who met her.
It is appropriate that the library chose its training and
conference room to bear her name because she was always a teacher first.
The Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
provides free services to Oklahomans who are blind or visually impaired and
those with learning disabilities or physical limitations that make it difficult
to use standard print.
Thousands of books, textbooks and periodicals in recorded and braille formats and playback equipment are available to library patrons at no
charge.
