Seniors of the Oklahoma School for the Deaf Graduate May 29th

SULPHUR, Okla. ― The Oklahoma School for the Deaf (OSD) will celebrate commencement for the graduating class of 2009 at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 29th, in the OSD auditorium, 1100 East Oklahoma Street in Sulphur, Oklahoma.

This year’s graduating class includes: Michael Travis Barnhart of Sulphur; Alyssa Diana Eaves, Whitle’ Ann Jackson, Melvin Lenord McKee, and Rebecca Leah Rosengren, all of Oklahoma City; Tiffiyon Alexzandria Evans of Spencer; Johnathan Michael Gernon of Edmond; Daniel Crose Hutton of Cyril; Cambria Shaylee Kennedy of Caney; Kailob Charles Miller of Ardmore; Rebecca Elise Olivero and Cathleen Michelle Paradiso, both of Lawton; Shelby Anne Orsburn, Brandon Dewayne Ruble, Casey Sullivan Scully and Jasmine Nicole Williams, all of Tulsa; and Lindsey Rose Wallace of Altus.

OSD superintendent Larry Hawkins said, “This is the largest graduating class we have had in several years, and each senior has a lot of potential. These graduates are ready for the next step in their lives, and we wish them every success in the future.”

Founded in Sulphur in 1908, OSD provides residential and day school educational services at no charge for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The school provides a range of outreach programs, including pre-school programs and onsite consultation for public school students, their families, public school districts and communities statewide.

OSD is a division of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), a state agency which assists Oklahomans with disabilities through vocational rehabilitation, education, employment, independent living programs and the determination of medical eligibility for disability benefits.
