video transcript:
Kealey McIntire: "Welcome back with us. Statistics may surprise you, a reported one in five Oklahomans has a disability. So today, a big event was held to educate the public and lawmakers."

Monica Price: "That is right. The 14th Annual People with Disabilities Awareness Day took place at the State Capitol. In fact more than 500 people attended. And tonight we introduce you to two amazing Oklahoma women.

"Meet 24-year-old, Sarah Getto. She's an inspiration. The Norman woman is incredibly talented, but life at times hit a sour note. Sarah was born blind and with a severe cleft lip and palate. "

Sarah Getto: "When I was born, I had a big hole in the roof of my mouth and my lip was just one big ball on the end of my nose. I had to have lots of surgeries to correct that."

Price: "But that didn't stop her from following her dreams. Sarah started developing her musical skills at a young age."

Getto: "I've been playing the piano since age three and the violin since age ten. I've been singing as long as I can remember."

Price: "And met another extraordinary young woman, she's 25-year-old, Anna Roberts of Harrah, Oklahoma. Anna  began losing her vision at the age of 12 after a cheerleading accident."

Roberts: "Shortly after that, I was also diagnosed with cancer and lost the rest of my vision that way."

Price: "She's now the state secretary of the National Federation for the Blind. She shares her remarkable experiences to teach others."

Roberts: "Being blind is not difficult. It's dealing with ignorance of what people think blindness is that's difficult."

Price: "They're two amazing Oklahomans who are using their talents to show others anything is possible."

Getto: "I just want people to know just because you're blind or disabled in any other way does not mean you can't lead a normal life."

Price: "They are both two very talented women. Hearing those stories it's so inspirational. Well last year, Sarah won third in the Billboard Song Writing Competition. She beat out more than 60,000 people. Can you believe that?"

McIntire: "And a beautiful voice, amazing singer. By the way, the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services hosted this big event today. For more information on DRS and how you can get involved, we have a link on our website go to ksbitv.com."
